Retrofits and Upgrades

Your existing plant doesn't need replacing — it needs upgrading.

Comfort RH engineers retrofit programs that transform ageing chillers, package units and pump sets into modern, efficient systems: inverter compressors, EC fans, microprocessor control and VFD-driven pumps, all without the capital cost of new equipment.

Four upgrades, one efficient plant

Compressor Replacement

From: Fixed-speed compressors

To: Inverter-driven screw & scroll compressors

Non-inverter compressors that cycle hard on and off are replaced with inverter-driven units that modulate continuously between roughly 25% and 100% of capacity — matching the real building load instead of chasing it. Soft starting removes the mechanical shock of every compressor trip, extends component life and cuts compressor energy by up to 40%.

EC Fan Conversion

From: Standard belt-driven centrifugal fans

To: Electronically commutated (EC) plug fans

Belt-driven fans lose energy in every pulley, bearing and slip — and belts are a maintenance item forever. EC fan modules are direct-drive with motor efficiencies up to 90%, stepless variable airflow, lower noise and no belts to replace. Fan energy drops by up to 70% at part-load speeds.

Controller Upgrades

From: Basic electromechanical controllers

To: Advanced microprocessor controllers

Chillers and package units still running on basic controllers are upgraded to advanced microprocessor control — PID capacity staging, adaptive setpoint control, precise leaving-water temperature regulation, comprehensive fault history and alarm logging, with BMS integration and remote monitoring built in.

VFD-Driven Pumps

From: Constant-speed water pumps

To: Variable frequency drive (VFD) controlled pumps

Standard pumps running flat-out against throttling valves waste energy around the clock. VFD-driven pumps track the chilled-water delta-T and trim speed to actual demand — eliminating throttling losses, enabling soft start and cutting pump energy dramatically at part load.

Why retrofit

A modern plant inside your existing equipment

Every upgrade is engineered as part of one program — surveyed, designed, installed and commissioned by the same team, so the new inverter compressor, EC fans, microprocessor controller and VFD pumps work as a single controlled system instead of four separate fixes.

  • Lower kW/TR across the plant — savings visible on your next utility bill
  • Soft-starting components that extend equipment life and cut breakdowns
  • Remote monitoring and fault history for proactive maintenance
  • Fraction of the capital cost of replacing the whole plant
